LYRIC’s mission is to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career trainings, health promotion, and leadership development with LGBTQQ youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities.
LYRIC envisions a diverse society where LGBTQQ youth are embraced for who they are and encouraged to be who they want to be. By working towards social justice and supporting young leaders, their families and allies, LYRIC is building a world that honors, respects and appreciates LGBTQQ youth and their contributions.
Due to the Bay Area’s Public Health Order, LYRIC will not have in-person programs or in-person services at this time. This order is in effect indefinitely, with reopening plans, and it may be extended depending on recommendations from public health officials. We will still engage LGBTQQ Youth during this closure. One-on-one support is available over the phone, groups will – as feasible – be held virtually, and LYRIC youth internships and leadership programs will be held online on an online group forum.
From our staff and board at LYRIC, we send you our best and hope that in this challenging time, you remember that we care about you and your well-being. It is important to remember the people in our communities who face obstacles everyday to meet their basic needs such as healthcare, economic resources, housing and shelter, full healthy meals and what we can do to continue to support each other while also guarding each other from the severity of COVID-19 in the Bay Area. Our communities can overcome great challenges when we come together to support one another and build strong solidarity.
With this in mind, our staff is still available for youth via email and phone.
If you are a LYRIC youth, or know a LYRIC youth, please email or call the Youth Advocate or Program Coordinator connected to your program for information and support. And sign up for our LYRIC Youth Newsletter to get updates on youth resources subscribe to LYRIC’s Youth Newsletter.
