Sequoia Leadership Institute is a paid internship program of LYRIC available to youth 14-24 years old.
Castro History Tour Spring 2020 (14-18 years-old)
The Castro History Tour Internship is a combination of social justice education, employment skill building, and leadership development. In this internship we will build connections with our local queer landscape: The Castro. We will give voice, visibility, and representation to the stories of queer and trans communities that are often invisible in dominant histories of the Castro.
Through field trips, walking tours, writing activities, leadership building, and an overnight retreat at beach-side Point Bonita, we will build tools of liberation and survival. Knowing our queer past is a way to ground ourselves, our bodies, and our lives in the present. We can learn tools from our queer ancestors about how to best navigate and thrive in the capitalist society in which we live today.
For more information about Castro History Tour, please contact Adrienne (she/her/hers) at email@example.com or (415)-316-9508 for more details.
UndocuWorkforce Spring 2020 (14-24 years-old)
UndocuWorkforce is the Bay Area’s first paid leadership program for undocumented LGBTQQ+ and straight-ally youth ages 14-24. UndocuWorkforce builds community through learning about topics such as gender and sexuality, diversity, the intersectionalities of immigration, race/ethnicity, power dynamics, and skill building around financial, emotional, and physical self-care and empowerment.
The group hosts speakers, goes on field trips, takes part in hands-on activities, and participates in an overnight team-building retreat at beach-side Point Bonita. Towards the end of the internship, youth co-create a final event, expanding on the skills they learned during internship. This internship is a fun and easy way to get paid and become a socially conscious individual ready to make a change in the world.
We are no longer accepting applications for our Spring 2020 internships.
