Summer in the City 2020

Summer in the City internship focuses on social justice education and LGBTQQ youth leadership. Interns build professional and personal skills, receiving participating in group meetings and one-on-one support. More information about Summer in the City 2020 coming soon.

In Spring 2020, LYRIC is holding two internships, Castro History Tour Spring 2020 and UndocuWorkforce Spring 2020.

The Castro History Tour Internship is a combination of social justice education, employment skill building, and leadership development. In this internship we will build connections with our local queer landscape: The Castro. We will give voice, visibility, and representation to the stories of queer and trans communities that are often invisible in dominant histories of the Castro.

For more information about Castro History Tour, please contact Adrienne (she/her/hers) at or (415).316.9508 ext. 139 for more details.

UndocuWorkforce is the Bay Area’s first paid leadership program for undocumented LGBTQQ+ and straight-ally youth ages 14-24. UndocuWorkforce builds community through learning about topics such as gender and sexuality, diversity, the intersectionalities of immigration, race/ethnicity, power dynamics, and skill building around financial, emotional, and physical self-care and empowerment.

For more information about UndocuWorkforce, please contact Freddie (he/him/his) at or 415.703.6150 ext. 113 for more details.

We are no longer accepting applications for our Spring 2020 internships. Please click here to be contacted when we start accepting applications for our SUMMER 2020 Internship  Summer in the City.

The unique strengths, creativity and experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQQ) youth and allies are the foundation of the Sequoia Leadership Institute

Real work experience, community building and skills for life come together to support LGBTQQ and ally youth to step up as leaders and designers of lasting social change.

Get paid to build the kind of community you want to be a part of. Internships with Sequoia Leadership Institute are all about supporting youth to make a difference in your community.

Interns are hired throughout the year and each position includes a variety of opportunities including small projects at LYRIC, community event planning, and political advocacy.

The Sequoia Leadership Institute is much more than a work experience. Every paid internship includes education, support and creative opportunities that help build skills for life.

Interns learn with and from one another about life topics including individual and community health, identity, social justice, advocacy, leadership, community building, college prep, and career planning.
