Celebrate LYRIC's 20th Anniversary!
When youth and adults came together to plan the first dance for LGBTQQ youth, who would have thought that - 20 years later - LYRIC would be a nationally-recognized institution for developing LGBTQQ youth leaders?
Together, we can help make the next 20 years of LYRIC a huge success by building on the first two decades of service. LYRIC has always been - and will always be...
A home for LGBTQQ youth - a place to gather and call their own, a place to be accepted.
Where they find their voices and step confidently into leadership.
How we are securing our common future.
Hundreds of LGBTQQ youth and adults from social justice, LGBTQQ, ally, and philanthropic communities will attend our four 20th Anniversary celebration events. At these events, we want to strengthen our connections with the community and showcase the exciting arts and cultural work of LYRIC youth participants.
All of our events will be held this September and October in San Francisco:
- Open House - September 18, 2008
- Youth Cultural Program - Date TBA
- Youth Dance - Date TBA
- Donor Appreciation Event - October 2, 2008
The 20th Anniversary celebration builds on LYRIC's direct services for over 600 youth and another 3,700 youth we reach through outreach activities each year. 90% of LYRIC's participants are low income. 79% of participants are youth of color.
As you may know, most LGBTQQ youth experience social isolation and other serious life challenges. Many youth find a sense of home and their first close friends at LYRIC. Your donation will go a long way to support these youth who really need LYRIC's vital services, including leadership development, internships, a youth space and important health programs.
We invite you to become a sponsor of LYRIC's 20th Anniversary with a gift of $1,000 or more. Your gift will be matched by an anonymous donor, up to a total of $25,000!
A gift of any size will be appreciated and will support the work of great youth leaders.
We hope to hear from supporters like you. If you would like to connect, please contact LYRIC's Development Director, Melissa White, by calling 415-703-6150 ext. 24, or send an email to melissa@lyric.org.
