Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the Queer Grrl Health Retreat?
The Queer Grrl Health Retreat is a chance for queer young women to come together to talk and learn about sex, our bodies, violence and pleasure. It’s two-days of socializing, meeting new folks, fun, sharing, talking, education, gifts – we can make the space whatever we want it to be!
Who puts on the Queer Grrl Health Retreat?
LYRIC – a community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer & questioning youth 24 and under. For more info on LYRIC, please visit us at www.lyric.org.
Which weekend should I attend?
Both weekends cover the same material so please choose the weekend that best fits with your schedule. We would like for folks to stay both days, if possible.
Young Women's Health Fair
The mission of the fair is grounded in the belief that young queer women should have equal access to information about sexuality and bodies as our heterosexual peers.
Not only do we intend to provide access to issues so rarely discussed in mainstream health education, but we also intend this year’s conference to be a platform of comfort and empowerment where we can all gain access to support from one another as well as from resources within our communities.
The Young Women's Health Fair is held in conjunction with the Unchained Conference.

Pride Outreach
Each June LYRIC attends three San Francisco Pride events (San Francisco's Trans and Dyke Marches and the annual Tranny Picnic).
In 2005, LYRIC distributed over 500 safer sex packets containing youth-developed Safer Sex and Trans Health Fliers, condoms, dental dams, lube, referal cards, and more to LGBTQQ youth at these events.
Outreach at San Francisco's Trans and Dyke Marches continued in 2006, where peer outreach teams distributed nearly 1000 safer sex packets.

San Francisco AIDS Walk
Each year, LYRIC participates in the San Francisco AIDS Walk. This 10k walkathon is held in Golden Gate Park each July.
In 2006, 50 young people participated in the AIDS Walk and raised an amazing $3,982 in support of AIDS Service Organizations throughout the Bay Area.
